  1. Stop smoking with hypnosis a success story

    Recently, I held a special session to help people who wanted to stop smoking as part of Stoptober and to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.stratford herald stoptober stop smoking press cutting

    It took place at the Arden Hotel in Stratford upon Avon who very kindly donated the room so that all the money could go towards the charity.

    The Stratford Herald newspaper came down to meet some of the people and have a chat with us. I am delighted to say that when they checked up a few days later with Suzanne, who is pictured in the press cutting, she was able to report how successful she had been !

    "Hypnotised into breaking the habit of a lifetime"

    "Stub it out and break the bad habit of a lifetime: that was the challenge faced by several smokers who attended a quit smoking hypnotherapy session in Stratford recently, reports Simon Woodings.

    The Session, held at the Arden Hotel, coincided with the government's 'Stoptober' initiative designed to help people all over the UK kick the dreaded weed this month.

    Local BBC radio presenter Mark Powlett from Stratford, who runs his own hypnotherapy company, was joined by fellow professional hypnotherapist, Aston Colley. Together they staged the session which raised funds for Cancer Research.

    Suzanne Wade, who took part, has successfully managed to give up smoking and has been nicotine free for more than a week. "We were made to feel very relaxed and told there was nothing positive about smoking" she said. "It's bad for your health and costs a lot of money. I can't say I don't still get the odd urge to light up but this time round something stops me from doing so - perhaps that's the trick of the hypnotherapy!"

    Of course it's not a trick ! Hypnosis can really help you to make a change to your subconcious and stop that habit in its tracks.

  2. Improve your mind and your memory

    As you probably know I find the mind an incredible thing. We learn more and more, and unlock more potential as we travel through life.

    I love to take the chance to speak to people who are specialists in their field and I recently interviewed Tony Buzan. Tony is the inventor of Mind Mapping. It is a technique where rather than just write notes on a page, we draw them in colours with key words, connecting lines, boxes or circles and images. By making them more visual we really assist our memory in its work. Doing this makes it so much easier to remember those facts that we really want to keep in the front of our mind. We also talked all about how to remember shopping lists and people's names. I don't know about you but I always feel that I have to work really hard to put a name to a face. I remember what someone looks like but I struggle to think of what they are called.

    This interview is not only a really entertaining chance to hear Tony speak but also a chance to come away with some very useful tools to help you remember all those things that you used to forget...
