  1. With the release of the new Movie Dr. Strange on the horizon its star Benedict Cumberbatch has been talking all about the power of the mind and his spiritual background.

Benedict Cumberbatch Dr Strange interview about the Power of the Mind

Speaking on BBC Breakfast in an interview with Naga Munchetty the Sherlock star was asked about his experiences both in the past and currently.

Asked by Naga "I know this film is very spiritualistic in many ways and I have had hints reading about you that is something you have looked into as well. What have you come away with?"

Benedict explained how his past had informed his future..

"Very much so. It reignited something that I had already touched base with in my teens. I was lucky enough to teach in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Darjeeling. It was a mind blowing experience for a western white teenager after an education here. Just to experience that tradition, and that amazing power of the mind. It's that more than anything that has stayed with me from that, and also being exacerbated by what we did in the film. The power of the mind to sort of change your reality and we meditated as a cast. We had a Tibetan monk every now and again, and we were taught to concentrate, focus and meditate and that is helpful for anyone in any walk of life.

The power of the mind, as I said, is something that we can all use to benefit from meditation and mindfulness...in this crazy world."

You can take just three minutes right now to experience how it feels when you switch off from the world by listening to the 3 minute mindful exercise in the Youtube Video below...

  2. Davina McCall has Hypnosis

TV Host Davina McCall, still remembered for her Big Brother hosting duties, has been talking about how she underwent hypnosis to deal with her own personal traumas. It all started when she was due to be submerged in a submarine and worried about how she would feel underwater.

In an interview with The Sun's Fabulous magazine, Davina talked about how she felt after the loss of her mother and how seeking hypnotherapy helped her to come to terms with this loss.

She talks about a method of hypnosis called timeline therapy which can be used to help you see things that happened in your past differently and teaches you to let go of the hold that they can have on your present and future.

“I went back in time to my younger self, when I realised my mum wasn’t coming back.  I was sitting at the kitchen table when I was about four years old, and the hypnotist said: ‘Take her outside to your safe place in the garden.’ So I took myself to my tree and sat down. He then said for me to put my arm around and comfort her. I did it like I was comforting one of my own children.”

    “I started crying and said: ‘I can’t.’

The hypnotist asked me why not and I replied: ‘Because it’s not going to be OK. Life gets really tough.’

And he went: ‘But look at you now.’ And it was the biggest epiphany.

This affection from Davina to her younger self became the turning point as she gave her younger self a cuddle and stroked her hair. "She (her younger self) looked a bit bewildered. He (hypnotist) said: ‘Now tell her it’s all going to be OK.’ I started crying and said: ‘I can’t.’ The hypnotist asked me why not and I replied: ‘Because it’s not going to be OK. Life gets really tough.’ And he went: ‘But look at you now.’ And it was the biggest epiphany."

Davina Has Counselling and Hypnotherapy to help

She has undergone counselling and hypnotherapy many times to help her cope with all of life’s ups and downs. This has included the loss of her sister and mother and also a well publicised battle with drugs and alcohol.

"I've been hypnotised to get me through going to the bottom of the sea in a submarine.

She also talks about how reading self help books and talking to her friends has helped her cope with the obstacles she has had in her life.

It is always good to see celebrities talking about the fact that we do not need to go through our worries and troubles alone. It is always good to ask for help and face them stronger and with support.

    How does Hypnosis Feel?

If you have ever wondered how it feels to be hypnotised then one of the best ways to try it for yourself is to watch a demonstration that shows how powerful the mind can be.

Take a look at this and see if you can watch your own fingers whilst thinking about what they are doing. How will it make you feel?
