  1. This week on the Apprentice it was time to say goodbye to hypnotherapist Sarah Dales as Lord Sugar raised his finger and pointed in her direction and uttered his famous catchphrase

    "Your'e Fired"

I noticed there was no "with regret" in his speech this week !  As a Clinical Hypnotherapist I have watched the antics of Sarah Dales myself with interest. I have written about her and you can also watch a couple of videos in this blog post about the show :http://www.markpowlett.co.uk/myblog/read_119084/hypnotherapist-sarah-dales-on-the-apprentice.html

You can see how he fired her in a clip that seems like it could make an interesting advert for hypnosis and hypnotherapy!

He may have wanted to get some jokes in but he also gives a few great examples of things that hypnotherapy can help you with:

    Hypnotherapy to quit smoking: http://www.markpowlett.co.uk/quitsmoking.html

    Hypnotherapy for weight loss: http://www.markpowlett.co.uk/slimmeryou.html

    Erectile dysfunction hypnotherapy: http://www.markpowlett.co.uk/myblog/read_74042/impotence-and-erectile-dysfunction-what-can-I-do.html

    Hypnotherapy for confidence: http://www.markpowlett.co.uk/loseweightredditch.html

I do get the impression that Sarah Dales will now be looking to work more on her internet dating website Harley Introductions than in her hypnotherapy practice now that she has left the show but I imagine she will get a great many enquiries for help following her appearance. I know I have had two people call me this morning asking to speak to her when she works in London and I am in the Midlands!  I don't think we are that alike and as far as I am aware she doesn't work on Skype like I do !

Here's a handy guide to what we both look like !:

  2.

Soul singer and nineteen sixties soul sensation Geno Washington has been talking about how he worked as a stage hypnotist and how practising self hypnosis and meditation helps him when performing music gigs with his band.

Born in Indiana, Geno Washington was stationed in England with the United States Air Force during the early 1960s when he started playing music and asked Pete Gage the guitarist if he wanted to join his group, Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band.

But he didn’t start out that way. Speaking to the Bolton News he said:

"I never in a million years ever dreamed or thought about being an entertainer or singer. I was an athlete when I was in the American Air Force, in track and field. It just happened by accident, me being in show business." He is a member of the American guild of hypnotists.

It is interesting to hear him talk about hypnosis and the part it has played in his career. He explained the ways that hypnotherapy has helped to change his life, helping balance mind, body and soul, and provide an interesting side career too.

"That's a great love of mine, how the mind works. That's very powerful. I was in LA when I was studying, getting my degree and I came back to the UK. I started doing hypnosis shows up and down the UK. I would do half hypnosis, have a 20 minute break then I would come on with the Ram Jam Band. The house was rocking. It was a great show. “

When not performing on the stage Geno also know how well taking time out for yourself works.

"I do a lot of meditation. That's got the benefit of self-hypnosis. It keeps you on your toes to keep healthy."
