  1. Davina McCall has Hypnosis

TV Host Davina McCall, still remembered for her Big Brother hosting duties, has been talking about how she underwent hypnosis to deal with her own personal traumas. It all started when she was due to be submerged in a submarine and worried about how she would feel underwater.

In an interview with The Sun's Fabulous magazine, Davina talked about how she felt after the loss of her mother and how seeking hypnotherapy helped her to come to terms with this loss.

She talks about a method of hypnosis called timeline therapy which can be used to help you see things that happened in your past differently and teaches you to let go of the hold that they can have on your present and future.

“I went back in time to my younger self, when I realised my mum wasn’t coming back.  I was sitting at the kitchen table when I was about four years old, and the hypnotist said: ‘Take her outside to your safe place in the garden.’ So I took myself to my tree and sat down. He then said for me to put my arm around and comfort her. I did it like I was comforting one of my own children.”

    “I started crying and said: ‘I can’t.’

The hypnotist asked me why not and I replied: ‘Because it’s not going to be OK. Life gets really tough.’

And he went: ‘But look at you now.’ And it was the biggest epiphany.

This affection from Davina to her younger self became the turning point as she gave her younger self a cuddle and stroked her hair. "She (her younger self) looked a bit bewildered. He (hypnotist) said: ‘Now tell her it’s all going to be OK.’ I started crying and said: ‘I can’t.’ The hypnotist asked me why not and I replied: ‘Because it’s not going to be OK. Life gets really tough.’ And he went: ‘But look at you now.’ And it was the biggest epiphany."

Davina Has Counselling and Hypnotherapy to help

She has undergone counselling and hypnotherapy many times to help her cope with all of life’s ups and downs. This has included the loss of her sister and mother and also a well publicised battle with drugs and alcohol.

"I've been hypnotised to get me through going to the bottom of the sea in a submarine.

She also talks about how reading self help books and talking to her friends has helped her cope with the obstacles she has had in her life.

It is always good to see celebrities talking about the fact that we do not need to go through our worries and troubles alone. It is always good to ask for help and face them stronger and with support.

    How does Hypnosis Feel?

If you have ever wondered how it feels to be hypnotised then one of the best ways to try it for yourself is to watch a demonstration that shows how powerful the mind can be.

Take a look at this and see if you can watch your own fingers whilst thinking about what they are doing. How will it make you feel?

  2. What happens in a session of BWRT on Skype?

You may have already read a little about how Brain Working Recursive Therapy works or even watched the video that I did with Terence Watts who created this brand new type of therapy. You can see that video here: http://www.markpowlett.co.uk/myblog/read_132571/what-is-bwrt-.html

Many people have asked me questions about what actually happens during a session. The best way to demonstrate BWRT in action is to show you.

I teamed up with Jennifer Battaglino who works in New York and like myself is a trained BWRT Practitioner. Both of us use Skype in our therapy, which means that we are able to help many more people than we would otherwise be able to reach. Having both worked with clients and performed BWRT on Skype sessions we decided that a great way to show you would be for me to take the role of a client and for Jennifer to show how the role of therapist works during a session.

You can watch for yourself below..

So What happens in a BWRT Session on Skype?

As you can see for yourself during the video one of the things that may strike you as unusual is that BWRT isn't hypnosis. What this means is that although you may have your eyes closed during the loops that you watched you are still very aware of what is happening. Perhaps you have sometimes wondered about hypnosis because you have seen TV shows of stage hypnotists and felt that it would make you uncomfortable.

Of course, in reality hypnosis is nothing like you see on stage at all. That is just entertainment and as clinical hypnotherapists being able to use many different methods to help you is what can make all the difference. If you are looking for any therapist for yourself then do make sure that they are fully trained in a variety of methods and techniques and a member of their professional governing body too.

    What does Content Free Mean?

You may have noticed that we spoke about the fact that a session can be content free. What this means is that if you have something that you find it very hard to talk about then you will not need to disclose this during your session. Of course often once you have got to know your therapist you may well find that talking about the problem helps you even sooner to a resolution, but of course that is something that you must feel comfortable with.
